Practically born with a camera in my hand, photography was my introduction to the world of art and remains a passion to this day.  At a very early age, I gained a reputation as the class artist, as my interest in drawing and painting developed
. . . and then I discovered my true obsession, sculpture.
My days of hammering, sawing, and soldering at my
father's side had found the perfect application,
           metalwork with a feminine touch!

In my figurative art, I focus entirely on body language, the unconscious gesture that belies a person's true feelings.  In my nonfigurative work, I search for the symbolic part that best represents the whole.

My sculpture is best known for applications in soldered copper, including the "Sculpture on the Rocks" series, Wearable Sculpture, and my current work, the wildly popular "Divas" series.

My photography is recognized for close-ups in natural light and a series called "Man-a-Kins" with over 200 topics.

Every medium seems to provide experience that enhances all of my art.

Life and art

During the years when Suzanne was able to pursue her love for the arts only on a
part-time basis, she developed an eclectic resume including careers as a chemistry and physics instructor, as a co-author of archaeological research for the Cahokia Mounds World Heritage Site, as a writer for varied publications, as a community-involved full time mom, and as a lifelong volunteer and founder for ongoing programs for children's charities.

Now able to devote her energy to art full-time, she has been blessed with the encouragement and guidance of such master artists as Ed Karasek, June Kelly, Billyo O'Donnell, Jerry Thomas, David Cornell, and Shawn Cornell.  Her work has won numerous awards and has been selected for juried shows throughout the region, including the Missouri Festival for the Arts (MOsaics), Spring ArtWalk in historic St. Charles, the GSLAA Festivals of Art at Queeny Park, Highland Art in the Park, Midwest Salute to the Arts, and gallery exhibits at the Foundry Art Centre in St. Charles, MO, the St. Louis Artists' Guild in Clayton, MO, the Jacoby Art Center in Alton, IL, the Hettenhausen Center for the Arts in Lebanon, IL, the Art on the Square Gallery in Belleville, IL, and the Framations Gallery in St. Charles, MO, among others.  Her creations reside in numerous  private and corporate collections, including the Bruce and Barbara Feldacker Labor Art Collection at the Mercantile Library Museum.  She has served as a judge for the American Indian Contemporary Art Show and has enjoyed teaching many free art classes for local schools and for the children of deployed military.

Just a few of many awards include the American Frame and Gallery Award, Best in Photography, and Best in Sculpture at judged exhibits, and she has twice received Best in Black and White Photography at the Cahokia Mounds Photography Competition, where her photography appeared as cover art for a quarterly publication.  On several occasions, her work has received Awards Of Excellence qualifying it to travel in touring exhibitions for animal rights.

Suzanne has been a signature member of the St. Louis Artists' Guild, a long-time board member of the Gateway East Artists' Guild, founder of the Artists' Registry for Charitable Events, a member of the Foundry Art Centre and the Jacoby Art Centre, a resident artist at Framations Art Gallery, and is also represented by the Galleries at Sole Survivor.
