The Art of

       Identifiably Unique
          Incredibly Diverse
                         Delightfully Experimental

These are the words that collectors use to describe my art
     . . . and I agree!

Believing that too much content limits the imagination,
I strive for simplicity and symbolism, whether the medium is sculpture, photography, or painting.
Rather than duplicating an object or scene,
I am more of a conceptual artist.

This philosophy leads to signature work that is easily identifiable in every genre, portraying the essence of  the subject, stripping away everything extraneous and aiming straight for the heart of the matter.

In my figurative work,  I choose to focus on body language, the unconscious gesture that belies a person's true feelings, rather than facial expression and detailed musculature.
In my nonfigurative work, I search for the symbolic part that best represents the whole.

When a technique becomes too commonplace or no longer holds my interest,
I apply a new twist or invent an entirely new application that still remains faithful to my philosophy.  I love to experiment!

Viewers are free to share my vision or find their own personal interpretations, which they often do.
That's always the best part about art!

Select a medium and come into my world.

Before pursuing a long-neglected passion for the arts, I experienced an eclectic life as a chemistry and physics instructor at Althoff High School and then McKendree University, as a co-author of archaeological research in nondestructive techniques for the Cahokia Mounds World Heritage Site, as a writer for various publications, as a community-involved full time mom, and as a lifelong volunteer who has founded several ongoing programs for children's charities.  I am still happily active in many of these groups.

Learning by many years of experience, I have been blessed with the encouragement and guidance of such master artists as Ed Karasek, June Kelly, Billyo O'Donnell, Jerry Thomas, and David and Shawn Cornell, among others.  I have gained much of value from so many generous artists who are willing to share their experience and expertise.

I have also been encouraged by such awards as the American Frame and Gallery Award, Best in Photography and Best in Sculpture at judged exhibits, and Best in Black and White Photography at the Cahokia Mounds Photography Competition.  On several occasions, my work has received Awards Of Excellence qualifying it to travel in touring exhibitions for animal rights.

I have participated in juried shows throughout the region, including the Missouri Festival for the Arts (MOsaics), Spring ArtWalk in historic St. Charles, the GSLAA Festivals of Art at Queeny Park, Highland Art in the Park, and gallery exhibits of the Foundry Art Centre and the St. Louis Artists' Guild, as well as being a solo or featured artist at the Starving Artist Gallery, Oregon Trail Roasting Company, Art on the Square Gallery, and The Abbey in Belleville, IL, Jacque's in Collinsville, IL, Jacoby Art Centre in Alton, IL, and Framations Art Gallery in St. Charles, MO.
My art is held in a number of collections, including private, corporate, and museum.

I am proudly a signature member of the St. Louis Artists' Guild, board member of the Gateway East Artists' Guild, founder of the Artists' Registry for Charitable Events, a member of the Foundry Art Centre, the Jacoby Art Centre, and a resident artist at Framations Art Gallery.

Work may be purchased online or in person through Framations Art Gallery, 218 North Main Street, Historic St. Charles, MO,  and at www.Framations.com.
